Game Recap

Fort Stockton Panthers had their season opener at home against Presidio and came out with a win with a final score of 1-0 over the Presidio Blue Devils.

The Panthers jumped on the board early scoring their only run in the bottom of the 1st inning off a single by Luis Dominguez. Luis Dominguez had a great night at the plate as he went 2-3.

Defensively, Luis also had a great night, as he took command on the pitching mound. He threw 4.1 innings, collected 7 strikeouts, allowed 4 hits and earned the Win for the game. Morabie Ramirez, came in during the bottom of the 5th to finish out the game. He pitched 2.2 innings, collected 4 strikeouts and allowed 3 hits. Our pitching was on point tonight and both Luis and Morabie came in and did a great job of throwing strikes. We made the routine plays and kept Presidio from scoring. A few times they left men stranded on base as our defense proved to be solid and get the out during some difficult times.

Overall, the Panthers executed defensively and our pitching staff did their job on the mound. We did struggle at the plate and left men on base a few times but with more hitting practice we should come around.

The Panthers will travel to Shallowater to play in the Railroad Classic this Thursday – Saturday.
